MANCHESTER UNITED EN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE - 2006/2007

25/03 MUSC France take legal action

MUSC-France wishes to inform you of the following :

UEFA has given its verdict and fined Manchester United €9,256 (CHF 15,000) for « the improper conduct » of the United fans at the Lille away game, which included the setting-off of ONE flare. A CRS policeman was quick to react and took several photographs from the Trannin stand top tier, where the MUSC France members were gathered.
The decision regarding the total havoc at the stadium entrance and away end is contradicted by the declarations Platini has addressed to MUSC France : according to the UEFA President, the organisers of the game are the first in line in being responsible for security.

UEFA has understandably no power to sanction the police who set off tear-gas in an enclosed area, which is much more dangerous than a flare…
As a result, MUSC France has taken legal action and has also lodged a complaint to the French Interior Minister’s Police Complaints Authority.

In order to give more weight to our complaint, MUSC France invites any person victim or witness of the incidents in Lens to write to the Public Prosecutor.

Bellow you'll find a letter plan with the translation of the sentences we recommend you use. We would be very grateful if you could send MUSC France a copy of your complaints.

23/02 LILLE CROWD PROBLEM

There were sixty of our members at the match last Tuesday.
We were situated just above the MUFC stand in TRANNIN upstairs, so we were able to watch what was going on downstairs.

We booked our tickets on general sale in December at Lille Stadium but certain of our members didn't buy their tickets through us and they find themselves everywhere in the stadium amongst Lille Supporters. The stewards seeing this moved some of them to the MUFC stand, causing what would apperar being a good hundred or more supporters being obliged to join the MUFC area (so not a question of "false tickets" as I heard from the french side on TV)

I must confess I was afraid for a few minutes that it could become very serious. Luckily, nothing worse happened but :

I can't understand the following:

1- why there was only one entrance in a small corridor to get into the stand so that you had a sort of jam forming and people getting being pushed against the fence

2- why there were no stewards inside the stand to guide people and to move them away from the entrance

3- why there is still a high fence blocking the only safe exit in case of emergency.

4- why the only response of the security people was the police force firing tear gas, annoying and frightening disbelieving supporters

In contradiction to what I have heard on the BBC, I can also witness that no one was targeted by the Lille fans who where next to us in the upper tier. The Lille fans behaved well in our tier.

We have asked all our members who were present to inform us what they saw, heard and to send us their photos and their films. We will send a full dossier as soon as possible and we are seriously thinking about lodging a complain.
